Children’s Activities

Children are more than our future. They are a vibrant, vital part of the present. Here at Saugatuck Church, their energy, spirit, creativity, questions, and insight provide some of the most powerful examples of how God is present in our midst. Our commitment is to give them a safe, encouraging place to share their many gifts and to walk with them as they learn what it means to be a Christian and to live in community.

Young Children ( Preschoolers – G4 )

We have a multi-age classroom for children in preschool through grade 4. All young children begin worship with their families in the sanctuary. After Children’s Time, they depart for the classroom with their teachers and are brought to Fellowship Hour after worship to reunite with you. There are two teachers in the classroom, one of whom specializes in working with preschoolers. The curriculum is based on exploring stories from the Bible. The children work together as a group but we sometimes split the youngest children out to work separately on age-appropriate activities.

Children & Youth ( G5 – G8 )

All children in G5 – G8 begin worship with their families in the sanctuary. After Children’s Time, they depart for the classroom with their teacher and are brought to Fellowship Hour after worship to reunite with you. These students are the primary creative force behind our annual Story Tent Sunday production. They spend the year exploring a single story from the Bible and developing a script and production inspired by it. G6 – G8 students can also participate in our Middle School Youth Group.
