Sunday Services

There are two worship services every Sunday throughout the year. All are welcome!

8:00 AM* (September – June)

This worship service begins with the congregation selecting hymns, includes a sermon and a time of prayer, and closes with a fellowship circle around the church. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month.

*The 8:00AM service is not held during the summer when the Beach Services are offered. The last 8:00AM service will be held on Sunday, June 20th, and will resume on Sunday, September 12th.

10:00 AM* (Year-round)

The 10:00 worship service includes a children's time with the Pastor, our choirs, the church school classes, the sermon and prayers, and Fellowship Hour following worship. Holy Communion is served on the first Sunday of the month.

*Please note that July 4th through September 5th, the 10:00AM worship service will be changed to 10:30AM to accomodate travel time from Compo Beach.

Wednesday Evening Vesper Services

Saugatuck Congregational Church currently hosts five different Vesper Services:

Serenity Service — First Wednesday

Built around the twelve steps of recovery programs like Alcoholics Anonymous, featuring the faith story of a person in recovery and an inspiring homily based on a particular step.

TAIZÉ Vespers — Second Wednesday

Built around the beautiful and charming chants created by members of the Taizé Community in France. This ecumenical group is devoted to working with young people and promoting peace. The simple music is designed to allow the mystery of God to penetrate the whole being. Our service is greatly enriched by the playing of pianist Gayle Martin Henry.

Healing Service — Third Wednesday

Join us for a time of healing prayer, with laying on of hands and anointing if desired. This powerful service provides a safe haven and a place of peace and renewal of body, mind and spirit.

Meditation Vespers — Fourth Wednesday

A quiet service that provides time for contemplation and prayer. The atmosphere is peaceful to encourage personal reflection. It is the perfect place to practice quieting the mind and letting go of the tumult that can separate us from God.

Youth-Led Vespers — Fifth Wednesday

Three times annually. The youth of the church are involved in planning and leading a service of scripture and song.

All Vespers services start at 7:00 PM in the Sanctuary and last 30–45 minutes, except for the Serenity Service which begins at 6:00 PM. All are welcome!
